As part of the Yorkshire GREEN project, we need to carry out essential work on our overhead lines near the junction. To keep our workforce, road users and local communities safe, we need to close parts of Junction 42 of the A1(M) (Selby Fork Interchange) and A63.
Closure dates and details
The closures are expected to take place overnight, between 7pm and 6am, on Saturday 22nd August and Saturday 5th September 2026.
The closures will include:
- A full closure of Junction 42 for southbound traffic on the A1(M). Drivers will not be able to leave or join the A1(M) southbound at Junction 42
- A partial closure for northbound traffic approaching Junction 42 from the A1. Vehicles will only be able to turn left onto the A63
- A closure of the A63 between Junction 42 A1(M) and the A162 roundabout at Monk Fryston. Strictly access only. Vehicles needing access will need to travel from the Monk Fryston roundabout side of the closure.
Please be aware that the dates and times of these closures are subject to change.
A map showing diversion routes for the closures can be viewed on our website, where you can also find the latest updates on this closure and other traffic management for the project.
Further closures
We will also need to carry out similar overnight closures later this year. We will share details of these dates closer to the time.
We appreciate that road closures can be disruptive for local communities, and we would like to thank you for your patience and understanding.
