Fairburn Parish Council is looking for volunteers to help monitor Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) movements through the village as part of the Fairburn Lorry Watch Scheme.
The scheme allows residents to record details of lorries that may be using routes inappropriately. Information gathered by volunteers helps build evidence and supports discussions with the relevant authorities.
How does it work?
1. Register as an Observer
Anyone wishing to take part must complete an Observer Registration Form. This only needs to be completed once.
2. Record Lorry Details
Observers can use the Reporting Card to record details of lorries seen travelling through the village.
You do not need to complete every section of the form. The most important information is:
- Date
- Time
- Location
- Vehicle Registration Number
Any additional details, such as vehicle type, company name or direction of travel, are helpful but not essential.
3. Take Photos (if safe to do so)
Photographs can provide useful additional information and may help identify vehicles or operators. Please only take photographs when it is safe to do so.
4. Submit Your Reports
Completed Reporting Cards and any photographs should be emailed to:
Cllr Derrick Robinson

Important Information
Observers must never approach drivers or vehicle operators.
Any enquiries from drivers or transport companies should be referred to Fairburn Parish Council.
The Council intends to organise Lorry Watch sessions in the future and further information will be published when available.
