| Amber Heat Health Alert |
| An Amber Heat-Health Alert has been issued for our area, signalling a period of prolonged hot weather that could have serious impacts on people’s health and well-being. While many of us may enjoy the sunshine, it’s important to remember that high temperatures can pose significant risks, particularly for those who are more vulnerable in our communities. ⚠️ Who is most at risk? Older people, especially those aged 65+Babies and young children People with pre-existing health conditions Individuals living alone or socially isolated Those experiencing homelessness 🤝 Please look out for one another We are asking everyone to check in on neighbours, friends, and family members, especially those who may be vulnerable. A simple knock at the door, phone call, or message can make a real difference. Consider: Ensuring they have enough water and are staying hydrated Checking their living space is as cool as possible Helping with shopping or errands to avoid peak heat hours Making sure they know how to seek help if they feel unwell ☀️ Stay safe in the heat Drink plenty of fluids and avoid excess alcohol Stay out of the sun during the hottest part of the day (11am–3pm) Wear light, loose-fitting clothing Keep homes cool by closing blinds/curtains during the day Never leave children or pets in parked vehicles 🆘 When to seek help If someone appears seriously unwell – dizziness, confusion, or difficulty breathing please seek medical advice immediately or call emergency services if required. Hot weather can be particularly dangerous if we’re not prepared, but together as a community, we can help protect those most at risk. Let’s stay alert, stay safe, and most importantly look out for each other. 💛 |
